What a week for the green to open to bowlers again – beautifully sunny weather and a well-tended green. And already, we have some lovely pots of flowers placed around the edge of the green, giving a real flavour of Spring.
This Sunday, Social Bowling starts up again in its usual slots of Sundays and Fridays, 1pm start. This year we are trying to make it even more sociable by mixing in new game types with even more breaks to have a cuppa and a chat. Feel free to bring any friends who would like to try bowling – we have lots of equipment, including sets of bowls to try for your first few sessions, and assistance tools such as the bowling arm and bowls picker-upperer (that’s a word, right?) – anyone of any age is welcome!
League matches also start this coming week, so there’ll be plenty of activity in the afternoons and evenings if you want to come along and watch or even join one of the teams – we always welcome new players. We’re also hosting a Lancashire Ladies League match on 26th April, where Southport’s two town teams play against each other – that’ll be one to watch!
In terms of other regular visitors to the green, we are looking forward to Crossways Adult Disability Day Services returning this year to enjoy their weekly bowling sessions – they have been regulars with us for a few years. A group from Preston Disability Day Services will also be using the green this year, and we also hope to see a few residents from Barchester Dovedale Court at our Social Bowling sessions after their initial visit last year. It’s great that our club is able to support these community groups.
We look forward to seeing you all at the green very soon for some bowling fun!
