Winter Green Maintenance Team

Winter Green Maintenance Underway

This week the grounds team began the Winter maintenance process on the Hoole green. They started by scarifying the surface to remove dead grass, or thatch as it is known – this would otherwise hinder growth of the green if left in place. Slits were also placed a few inches down into the green to allow air to the grass’ roots and encourage growth.

Further work will follow, with the team seeding and top dressing the green, the aim being to improve the playing surface and have it in tip top condition ready for next season.

Without such a dedicated team, the green certainly wouldn’t be in the great condition it is, so thank you to all involved.
