This year we entered the South Ribble in Bloom competition in the category of Community Space, and this week 4 of our members, attended the presentation evening, held at the Civic Centre in Leyland.
A TV screen with scrolling pictures of all the entries showed lots of colourful flower displays in varying forms, and our photos looked fantastic amongst these. The Mayor of South Ribble presented the top 3 prizes in each of 6 categories, but despite the quality of our entry, we didn’t pick up a prize this year. We will try again next time, hopefully with even bigger and better flower displays to wow the judges with!
Thanks to everyone who contributed towards the floral displays this year, in particular to Graham and Susan Moon for the border and planter displays, and to Don Lowe for the handmade mini bench planters, all of which were commented on with enthusiasm by visitors to the green.
