Gerry Flaherty Memorial Shield Winner 2026

This week saw the conclusion of the Preston & District evening league games for 2026. As has become tradition, the Hoole Village Hall team captain hands out the Gerry Flaherty memorial shield each year to the player they feel deserves it the most. The shield was introduced in order to recognise a relative newcomer to the team who has contributed the most, not only as a player but as someone whose input goes beyond the game.

Dave Rostron presented the shield to Susan Moon, who joined the Tuesday night team at the start of the season. She has already won quite a few of her games and is always keen to look after the team and tidy the clubhouse, not to mention the fact that she (and husband Graham!) look after many of the flowers around the green on an almost daily basis. Susan is indeed a great all rounder and fully deserves the shield this year.
