This week, rotten wooden edging around the green is starting to be replaced with recycled plastic edging. Beginning with the side at the away shelter end, work has begun, with aged wood being removed, the edges straightened, and the new edging being secured in place.
The cost for replacing the edging on one side of the green is approximately £400, but this week, Gail received a grant of £300 from Lancashire County Council Older People’s Champion to help with this. The net cost to the club of £100 for one side is a great result.
Work on the first side will be completed over the next few weeks, with work on other sides planned for later in the year.
Thanks go to Graham Moon, Dave Thompson, John Medcalf, and Paul and Gail Cafferkey for their hard work in making this project come to life. I’m sure the green will benefit for many years to come, as will all bowlers!
