As the bowling season draws to a close, we have 3 club competition results to bring you.
The Village Hall Cup took place in August. This was a doubles competition, and it was nice to see many of the club’s newer players entering. The day was hugely entertaining and the eventual winning pair were John Medcalf and Don Lowe. Don, pictured below with the trophy, will proudly display the trophy for 6 months then hand it over to John.

In September, the Cartmel Cup was played, this time as a singles competition. This was another great day for everyone, the eventual winner being club Chairperson, Peter Carr, beating Phil Smallshaw in the final round. This is the third year in a row that Peter has won the cup, so congratulations to him! The winner of the consolation round this year was Gary Hulme, who beat Don Lowe in the final round – well done to you too! Both Peter and Gary are pictured below, receiving their prizes. Peter’s was presented by club treasurer Gail Cafferkey.

Lastly, both the Singles and Doubles Knockout Competitions concluded in September. The competition, this year organised by Anne Baines with help from Janice Cumberlidge, was played over the full season, with members largely organising their own games at a time convenient to all parties.
The Doubles Knockout final saw Chris Coxhead and Kevin Hourigan take on Phil Dagnall and Don Lowe (also known as the Everly Brothers!). The final was fairly close, but Chris and Kevin clinched victory 21-16. The Consolation round final saw Anne Brogden and Gill Johnston triumph over Paul Cafferkey and Mike Slinger.
In the Singles final, Chris Coxhead won against Phil Smallshaw, and in the Consolation final Phil Dagnall was victorious over Peter Carr.
The prizes for the Knockout Competitions will be presented at the club AGM, to be held on 13th November at 7pm. All club members are invited.
Well done to all, it’s been another great season for club competitions!
