On one of the most beautifully warm and sunny days of the year so far, the Tony Brogden Cup was taken home by none other than Tony’s son, Andrew Brogden. Andrew put on a fantastic show of bowling to beat Paul Cafferkey in a tense cat and mouse final. With many of Tony’s family members looking on with pride, the win was an emotional one for all. Peter Carr, our club chairperson and Tony’s brother-in-law, presented the trophy to Andrew, both pictured in the main photograph above.
In the plate competition, run for those who didn’t win their first round matches, the winner was Graham Moon, pictured below. Graham beat Anne Baines in another close and skilful final game.

There were many standout moments on the day, but special mention goes to Bernard Hudson, who had a fall just 2 days prior, but bowled himself into the semi-finals of the plate competition, only being beaten by the eventual winner.
Thanks to everyone who took part, and very well done to Andrew Brogden for taking home his dad’s trophy.
Here are a few more pictures from the day.
